Union seeks urgent clarification on IT outsourcing

Unite have requested urgent clarification from AXA concerning the outsourcing of IT staff under Project California who it appears may be transferred to European IT services company Steria rather than Capita Life & Pensions.

Earlier this month Capita itself outsourced some of its Life & Pensions IT to Steria with the IT company providing offshored IT development and support enabling Capita to reduce its costs.

The impact this will have on the Shared Services IT population affected by Project California is unknown, though a small number of IT staff have already been advised by AXA that they will transfer to Steria not Capita.

The situation regarding a number of important issues such as pension provision is also unclear as AXA have provided no information on whether IT staff will receive similar benefits to those staff transferring to Capita have been promised.
