Union expresses exasperation over Skills Ladder stop gap
Unite has expressed its exasperation over the fact that AXA Insurance has still
not rolled out
a replacement reward system for staff previously on Skills Ladders.
It was announced back in February that Skills Ladders would cease operation from
1st July
2007 and the union welcomed this move due to the failings and unfairness of the
system at
many sites.
However, despite a Union suggestion to adopt a simple mechanism utilising the
existing
Compass system and setting specific skills acquisition as performance targets as
an easy to
understand stop gap before the new One AXA Performance Management system is
introduced in 2008, AXA Insurance has set up a number of disparate working
groups which
no one has taken overall control of.
Consequently a lot of work is being done and effort expended pulling in
different directions
without a clear steer or mandate, resulting in the fact that hundreds of AXA
Insurance staff
are currently working without any idea of how they will be rewarded for their
performance.
The Union have made it clear that this situation is patently unacceptable in a
"People Based
Organisation" attempting to become "The Preferred Company" and requires
immediate action
from AXA Insurance to let staff know how their performance will be rewarded, how
they can
work to improve this and how this will be recognised.
