Amicus Request Principles On Outsourcing
Amicus has presented AXA with a request to sign up to a set of agreed principles on outsourcing to ensure staff transferred to companies outside the AXA group find their new employers meet the staff employment standards and offer the same level of protection they enjoyed in AXA.
A similar document has recently been signed in Co-operative Financial Services and Prime Minister Tony Blair was so impressed with the new policy that in his 'One Nations Future' speech he commented: "I saw how Amicus have worked out an agreement with the Co-operative Insurance Services to look after staff who were outsourced, as well as getting the best working environment for all staff. Rather than trying to stop change, this was unions and employers working together for the benefit of the company - and the employees. And that surely is now the key role for trade unions, to work in partnership with employers to ensure profitable companies that take care of their staff."
AXA are currently considering the proposal.
