Young, Blond, Female, Stupid (and the boyfriend's an MCP...)

Unite has expressed its disappointment to AXA for the 'My Budget Day' cartoon it emailed staff nationwide yesterday.

Given the positive steps AXA had been undertaking in the area of equality of late, this ill conceived cartoon managed to cover an amazing number of poor sterotypes in just three panels.

Unite has been supportive of the concept of 'My Budget Day' even promoting it within other financial services companies, but was stunned when AXA issued this cartoon in an email to staff.

Our concern is not just a case of being PC for the sake of it, a large number of our members have been offended by the cartoon and ill thought out material such as this only goes to reinforce sterotypes that both Unite and AXA had committed to work to abolish.

Unite have asked AXA to review the process that saw this offensive cartoon issued to employees and also ensure that any further episodes promoting the campaign do not exhibit similar unacceptable sterotyping on the lines of gender.
