Amicus ask AXA for Fairtrade option
Amicus have asked AXA UK to replace Nescafe coffee with a Fairtrade equivalent in a number of sites on a trial basis. Four Square who operate the Klik and Flavia vending machines have confirmed that there would be no additional cost to AXA in doing this.
Fairtrade is an independent consumer label which appears on products as an independent guarantee that disadvantaged producers in the developing world are getting a better deal for their products. Producers receive a minimum price that covers the cost of sustainable production and an extra premium that is invested in social or economic development projects.
In the period 2004 to 2005 AXA staff consumed 250,000,000 vended drinks and the trend shows consumption rising in 2006. Given AXA's commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility, this would be one further way that the company could demonstrate its support of its ethical principles.
