Impact of 2015 Budget

Since the Budget announcement last week, an increasing number of union members have contacted us raising the issue of how it impacts them.

Many of those who have contacted us are relatively low paid and have said they will be losing over £1000 a year following the changes being implemented in the Budget.

Whilst the next round of pay talks with AXA are a little way off, we need to ensure we have a clear picture of any potential adverse impact the Budget may have on our members in AXA, so we can look to address this if necessary.

Consequently we are asking all our members to complete the BBC Budget calculator here.

And enter the result in our confidential online survey here.

We have asked you to provide some anonymous demographic data so we can ascertain if any specific populations are impacted more than others.

We are not sure how long the BBC will keep its Budget calculator online, so would encourage you and your colleagues to use it and complete the survey asap.

2013 pay & performance management survey

2013 Pay & Performance Management Survey

The 2013 pay award may seem a long way off but the process leading to it starts now as we begin consulting with Unite in AXA members as to what they would like to see awarded.

To make the consultation process easier and to reach as many members in AXA as possible we have launched an online survey for staff to complete which can be accessed here.

As well as questions on what you would like to see regarding pay we are asking a few anonymous questions about how you are coping in the current economic climate as well as your views on the performance management system that drives your pay award.

Unite have already undertaken similar surveys in the likes of Aviva and Capita and this data has proven extremely useful in their pay talks.

The survey will run from Wednesday 24th October to Tuesday 6th November.

IDS states pay awards will trail inflation

Incomes Data Services (IDS) has reported that private-sector pay is set to increase this year but it will still trail behind the rate of inflation as VAT and rail fare rises impact RPI.

Their latest report predicts that pay rises are on course to be higher than 2010, but the growing cost of living will rise faster than average pay deals for the second year in a row.

The UK’s median pay award rose slightly to 2.2% in the three months to November 2010, according to the IDS research.
